Public Art
Eclipse
I worked with artist Ted Kerzie, to create this public art piece for the California State University, Bakersfield, Dezember Leadership Center. “Eclipse” was commissioned by Millie Ablin, who was a well-know local art patron and owner of a Frank Lloyd Wright home.
Kerzie was best known for his colorfield process paintings that were created by painting through a grid of flexible tape. We collaborated with Ms. Ablin, and deconstructed one of his dot paintings digitally to create this “five fingered” version of a Kerzie painting.
I was the designer on the project, and worked with Kerzie to finalize and digitize the sculpture’s form and assisted in the creation of the maquette.
Antelopes on Parade
“Artists from the Antelope Valley and surrounding mountain and desert communities created original artworks on 54-inch-tall by 40-inch-wide fiberglass antelope sculptures to symbolize the history and heritage of our Valley.
Antelopes on Parade is an Antelope Valley Community project that takes place every 10 years. The project celebrates the richness of the region and is based on a worldwide model whereby cities host parades of what represents them best as a community through the imagination and creative talents of local artists.
Selections on display in Lancaster will be the works of Nuri Amanatullah, Xochilt Garcia, David Koeth, and Fernando Nunez. Selections on display in Palmdale will be the works of Lori Antoinette, Xochilt Garcia, Debbie Haeberle, and Kierstyn Swann.”

Driven by Art
“Driven by Art, a public art project was created in honor of the Bakersfield Museum of Art’s 60th Year Celebration. In one of the largest and friendliest public art displays in Kern County, this project celebrates the bond between the Museum and the greater community of Bakersfield.”
